About Washington Criminal History

Washington criminal records are divided among several custodians. The Washington State Patrol maintains the state repository, Washington courts hold case files, the Department of Corrections tracks state incarceration, and county sheriffs create local booking and jail records. The Washington Sex Offender Public Registry serves a separate public-safety purpose. Washington Criminal History brings those routes together so readers can identify the right statewide system or one of the official offices serving all 39 counties.

Why We Built This Site

Washington offers several public access channels, but each answers a different question. Washington Access to Criminal History provides the State Patrol's public conviction-history product. Washington Courts indexes case activity, while the Department of Corrections locator covers state custody rather than county jails. WASOR publishes only the registry information made public under Washington's risk-based rules. Original arrest, booking, jail, and court records remain local. Washington Criminal History was created to make those boundaries clear and route readers to the correct official source. The county directory leads to the local layer when a statewide database cannot supply the original file.

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to a Washington court, sheriff's office, police department, or state agency. There are real limits to the help available here:

  • We cannot provide legal advice about a Washington charge, warrant, conviction, or request for relief
  • We cannot issue certified court documents, rap sheets, booking records, or registry records
  • We cannot submit a Public Records Act request, court motion, or vacation filing for a visitor
  • We cannot retrieve an official criminal-history report or run a government check for anyone
  • We cannot promise that an agency's fee, hours, address, or online procedure has not changed

An official copy must come from its custodian, such as Washington State Patrol, the court of record, the Department of Corrections, or the local agency that created it.
